Best Romantic Movies So Far in 2021

Romance movies aren't just for girls' nights, nor should they only be relegated to the first half of February. Seriously, can you think of a time when watching The Notebook for the millionth time isn't appropriate? Didn't think so! No matter the season, the movie night crowd, or your relationship status, there's often nothing more comforting than curling up on the couch with a heartfelt movie about two people falling in love against all odds (or because of them). They're hopeful, dreamy, and usually pretty sexy—what more could you ask for in a film?

Fortunately for us all, 2021's romance movie offerings are nothing short of a lovefest. If there's anything we've learned in the last year, it's the importance of our relationships with our loved ones, and the next year's worth of new releases will definitely reflect that. Expect to see the final installment of a beloved trilogy, new adaptations of tried-and-true love stories, and plenty of original stories that promise to tug on your heartstrings (if not also send you sobbing your way through a Kleenex box). Here are the best romance movies so far for 2021.

'Malcolm & Marie'

Starring: Zendaya, John David Washington

This black and white feature was the first movie to be fully developed and filmed during the COVID pandemic. It takes place over the course of one night, during which, in an effort to keep busy while waiting for the reviews of Malcolm's latest film to start rolling in, the couple decides to busy themselves with dissecting their entire relationship and each other's lives. Naturally.

'The Dig'

Starring: Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, Lily James, Johnny Flynn

Based on the true story of the 1939 excavation of the Sutton Hoo archeological site in England, The Dig attempts to rewrite a major historical wrong by focusing largely on the efforts of archeologist Basil Brown, who led the project but whose contributions went uncredited for decades. This might not sound like the stuff of romance, but you'll change your mind when you catch wind of not one but two tragic romantic entanglements threaded throughout the film.

'The Kissing Booth 3'

Starring: Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Meganne Youngg, Molly Ringwald

If you feel like The Kissing Booth 2 was just released, you're not wrong! The third and final installment of the very cute romantic series finds the characters at Lee and Noah's family beach home, where they get to live up their final summer together before Elle is forced to decide where she wants to go to school.

'Resort to Love'

Starring: Christina Milian, Jay Pharoah, Sinqua Walls

If you want a feel-good rom-com, watch Netflix's Resort to Love about a singer who unknowingly takes a job at a resort where her ex-fiancé is getting married. It's produced by Alicia Keys!

MOVIES TO LOOKOUT FOR 2017

HEY MOVIE LOVERS, 2016 has been a year of awesome movies and also season movies, well brace up for 2017 because its packed with attention grabbing and must watch Hollywood and Nollywood movies.

Here are movies to watch out for this year

XXX: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE - JANUARY 18

Vin Diesel (Xander Cage) is at it again with another series of XXX: Extreme athlete turned government operative Xander Cage comes out of self-imposed exile, thought to be long dead, and is set on a collision course with deadly alpha warrior Xiang (Donnie Yen) and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon known as Pandora's Box. Recruiting an all-new group of thrill-seeking cohorts, Xander finds himself enmeshed in a deadly conspiracy that points to collusion at the highest levels of world governments.

SPLIT -  JANUARY 18

While the mental divisions of those with dissociative identity disorder have long fascinated and eluded science, it is believed that some can also manifest unique physical attributes for each personality, a cognitive and physiological prism within a single being.

Though Kevin (James McAvoy) has evidenced 23 personalities to his trusted psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley), there remains one still submerged who is set to materialize and dominate all the others. Compelled to abduct three teenage girls led by the willful, observant Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy, The Witch), Kevin reaches a war for survival among all of those contained within him—as well as everyone around him—as the walls between his compartments shatter apart.

RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER - JANUARY 27

The Resident Evil series continues as Milla Jovovich returns to close out the sci-fi horror franchise she's led for more than a decade—and nearly $1 billion in worldwide grosses. Despite the long lapse between sequels, this sixth installment will reportedly pick up right where Retribution left off while following director Paul W.S. Anderson's mandate to come full circle with the saga of a dystopian future in which a corporate-created virus has unleashed a zombie plague. In other words, if you haven't been watching so far, this isn't the best place to come in—but if the Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City, and "t-virus" are meaningful phrases for you, its set to be be January 27, you have to mark that on your calendar.

John Wick: Chapter 2 - February 10

After everything he went through in the first movie, what could possibly convince John Wick to come out of retirement? Dog lovers will be relieved to hear it isn't the death of another pooch that gets his guns blazing in John Wick: Chapter 2—this time, one of John's old buddies is in the middle of a scheme to topple an assassin's guild and he needs backup. The circumstances are different, but the end results look pretty much the same: tons of stylish violence with Keanu Reeves in the middle of it all, back in the role he might have been born to play.

The Great Wall - February 17

The story was created in part by World War Z novelist Max Brooks, whose book segments about China's part in the zombie apocalypse were criminally underserved in the cinematic "adaptation" of his story, so this could be a point of serious creative redemption. Plus, the promotional materials have shown some ambitious special effects and stunts, and Bourne hero Damon's had some strong action successes in the past. From everything we've seen so far, The Great Wall will at least be a spectacular showcase of effects-heavy cinematography.
Zhang Yimou's sprawling historical fantasy epic The Great Wall has been hit with early backlash over its casting of Matt Damon as the star of what's otherwise an eastern narrative. But the film has an intriguing (albeit a little ridiculous) idea: The Great Wall of China was built to keep out more than just unwanted human neighbors.

Kong: Skull Island - March 10

March 10, 2017, the big guy returns with Kong: Skull Island. Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) and starring Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Samuel L. Jackson, this '70s-set trip into the Kong mythos gives viewers the biggest version of the character they've ever seen—which is a good thing for Kong, because after Skull Island finishes its theatrical run, Legendary is planning to pit him against Godzilla in a monster mashup for the ages
